Kerala has won the gold medal for the ‘best State pavilion’ at the international trade fair on at the Pragathi Maidan in Delhi.
A government release said here on Tuesday that Director for Information and Public Relations P. Venugopal received the medal from Delhi Lieutenant General Thejeender Khanna. The press release quoted Mr. Venugopal as saying that Kerala’s pavilion mirrored the success the State had achieved over the years in social and economic spheres.
The silver medal this time was won by Punjab, while Assam received ‘special mention’ from the judging committee for its pavilion. Kerala had won the gold medal last year also. This is the 12th time in the history of the Delhi international trade fair that the State is winning the gold. The State had also received the silver medal once, in addition to ‘special mention’ twice. The theme at the fair this time was ‘Agriculture and Food Processing’. The Kerala pavilion brought out the State’s tradition and possibilities in this sector, the release said. The pavilion was designed by Shadows Agency headed by artist C.B. Jinan. The departments of Industry and Forests, the Farm Information Bureau, the Kudumbasree and several other government agencies had stalls in the pavilion.
