The South Korean city of Yeosu beat out contenders in Morocco and Poland to be chosen as the site for the 2012 World’s Fair, which typically draws millions of visitors from around the globe, organizers said Monday.

The theme for the 2012 exposition at the port city on South Korea’s southern coast is to be environmental one, “The Living Ocean and Coast.”

The winner was announced after a vote by delegates to the Paris-based International Exhibitions Bureau, the body that oversees world’s fairs and various other international exhibitions.
