Press Release

According to recent U.S. Census Bureau statistics, the Hispanic population is the fastest-growing and largest minority group in the country at 44.3 million. To assist the growing number of Hispanic families that call the Chicago-area home, Harris is hosting a series of Financial Fairs in Spanish in several surrounding communities.

On September 23, 2007 from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m., the Harris Financial Fairs will be held at four select Chicagoland Harris locations:

Aurora: 1252 N. Lake St.;
Cicero: 2903 S. Cicero Ave.;
Palatine: 1350 N. Rand Rd.; and
Chicago Heights: 1630 Chicago Road.

The Fairs will feature financial discussions, family-oriented games, raffles, refreshments and live radio broadcasts by La Tremenda 1200 AM, Aurora Fair; La Ley 107.9 FM, Cicero Fair; Pasion 106.7 FM, Palatine Fair; WOJO 105.1 FM, Chicago Heights Fair.

Attendees also have the opportunity to take part in three half-hour workshops hosted by Harris experts with local Hispanic on-air radio talent moderating the discussions. Workshop topics include: Understanding the Importance of Credit (12:30 p.m.-1 p.m.), Purchasing a Home (1:15 p.m.-1:45 p.m.) and Starting or Expanding your Business (2 p.m.-2:30 p.m.). In addition, bilingual experts will be on-hand to answer financial questions and offer personalized advice.

“At Harris, we’re here to help to educate and assist all families with their financial needs and goals,” said Lilia Alvarado, Director of Hispanic Banking, Harris. “The Financial Fairs are a fun, relaxed way to meet Hispanic families in these communities as well as introduce them to helpful economic tools and resources.”
