Community hospital sponsors health fairs in low-income areas

Redlands Community Hospital is reaching out to the community one health fair at a time. For the second week, the hospital will co-sponsor a health fair at an area church.
From 2 to 5 p.m Saturday at Christain Family Worship Center at 254 S. Mount Vernon Ave. in San Bernardino, the hospital will host “A Festival of Health Fair.”
Lynne Roy, the hospital’s faith community nurse said both fairs have are first time events for the hospital made possible by grants from Catholic Healthcare West’s Community Grant Program. The event will have 16 health-related displays, she said. Along with information about diabetes and heart health, there willl be information about sexually transmitted diseases and body piercing. There will be six screenings in the festival environment including entertainment for children.
