US Postal Service Passport Fairs

Published August 27th, 2006

The U.S. Postal Service is planning a series of Passport Fairs for people who are used to crossing the border into Mexico and other Western-hemisphere countries with just a driver’s license or birth certificate.

In the new year, travel from the United States to several countries in the Western hemisphere will require U.S. citizens to show passports. The number of such countries is about to change, and postal officials are expecting a rush of applications.

Passports are now required for return to the U.S. from the Caribbean and Bermuda, and beginning in 2008, travel from Mexico and Canada will require a passport.
