Roberts Sysco schedules 3 job fairs

Nearly a thousand people already have gotten forms to apply for the 100 high-paying jobs with Roberts Sysco Food Services Inc. set to go on line in June.

Pay and benefits are projected to average $55,000 a year at the warehouse and distribution center, company representatives have said.

Flyers made available this week around Lincoln and on the companys Website promote three job fairs between Jan. 23 and 28 for jobs in 18 categories.

Applications for 39 drivers, 26 night warehouse personnel and the other job categories will be available with preliminary reviews during the job fairs.

Other job opportunities include: Two customer service representatives, two national account representatives, two maintenance engineers and two mechanics, with one opening each for credit manager, executive assistant, marketing associate trainee, administrative assistant for sales department, staff accountant, accounting clerk, inventory specialist, logistics specialist, slot coordinator, janitor and router.

Bob Coffey, human resources manager for Robert’s Sysco, said the company has received 600 applications since the center was announced and ground broken last fall.

And the Robert’s Sysco job fair flyers already have drawn 250 to 275 people to the Illinois Employment and Training Center office in the Farm Bureau Building, 120 S. McLean St., since Monday, office manager Jan Gleason said Friday.

The park district will have the job fairs in four rooms of the Rec Center on Primm Road from 4 to 8 p.m. Jan. 23 and 26 and 8 a.m. to noon Jan. 28. The Jan. 23 job fair will be for delivery driver applicants, the Jan. 26 job fair for night warehouse applicants and the Jan. 28 job fair for all positions.

Meanwhile, construction continues at breakneck pace on the Robert’s Sysco’s distribution center at the corner of Fifth Street and Connolley roads on Lincoln’s west side. Internet users can watch construction progress on a Webcam at http://www.lincolnloganwebcams.com.
