Czech Republic to lift ban on bird fairs,

Published December 9th, 2005

The Czech Republic will lift a ban on bird fairs and exhibitions, caused by concerns over bird flu, as of Thursday midnight, Agriculture Minister Jan Mladek told reporters.

The State Veterinary Administration said the ban would be cancelled since vets have not detected a bird flu case when it was in force.
The Czech Republic imposed the ban on October 22. From November, the Czech Republic followed the EU in banning imports of exotic birds from countries outside the EU.
Besides, the Czech Republic just like other EU members has banned imports of poultry, birds and other risk commodities from countries with bird flu occurrence.
